Covid-19 taught the world to work from home (WFH). Even though offices have started opening and companies are calling their employees to office, this trend is also giving new predictions. The World Economic Forum white paper predicts that ninety-two million (92 million) jobs are expected to shift completely to remote work by 2030. This is more than the current figure of 73 million (7.3 crore).
The title of the white paper is – Realizing the potential of global digital jobs. It states that “new ways of working, if managed effectively, deliver benefits.”
According to the report, there have been benefits from the rise of technologies like cloud computing, video conferencing and artificial intelligence. This has made remote working more feasible than before. The white paper states that such jobs can increase in lower-middle income countries if people with the right skills and qualifications are found there.

The report estimates that the scope of work-from-home may increase in accounting, legal, finance, IT services. The sectors of healthcare, marketing, advertising, communications and cyber security are also rated better for remote work.
However, that's not to say that remote work doesn't have its challenges. High speed internet may be a problem in some areas. Corporate hardware has also been considered a hindrance. Giving a solution to this, it has been said that employees should be allowed to use their own devices for office work. However, in a country like Nigeria, only 38 percent of households own a computer.
The white paper also says companies expanding remote work should aim to attract talent rather than save money.
