Women started fighting, now Modi government will give free stove along with 75 lakh gas cylinders, know the application process


Trends Of Discover, New Delhi: Narendra Modi government has announced to provide 75 lakh more free LPG connections to the poor women of the country under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The government on Wednesday approved a proposal to release Rs 1,650 crore to state-owned petroleum companies.

The Union Minister said that this money will be released to public sector petroleum marketing companies. “It was decided in the cabinet meeting today that 75 lakh more free LPG connections will be given. These LPG connections will be given to women under the Ujjwala scheme in the next three years,” he said.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2016. It was started to provide relief from smoke to poor women who cook on the stove. Under this scheme, free gas connections are given to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that this decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

Thakur said that the Cabinet has agreed to provide 75 lakh new LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme. With this, the total number of women benefiting from the scheme will increase to 10.35 crore. This will cost a total of Rs 1,650 crore, the burden of which will be borne by the Central Government.

How and who can apply for connection?

Under PM Ujjwala Yojana, women living below poverty line (BPL) will get free LPG connection. Beneficiaries applying for free gas connection under this scheme will have to upload their ration card (BPL card) online. BPL cards are available to families who are below the poverty line. Family with annual income less than Rs 27,000

If you want to apply for free connection then visit the website of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana pmujjwayojana.com. Then click on “Download Form” option there. After this the form will appear which you will have to download. Fill the form with the required details and submit it to the nearest gas agency. Submit all the required documents along with the form. You will get the connection after the document verification process is completed.
