Will BJP give surprise in Maharashtra? Not only Fadnavis, two names also in the race to become CM

Maharashtra Politics: The efforts to form a new government in Maharashtra have intensified. According to sources, the swearing in ceremony may take place in Mumbai on December 5 and the swearing in ceremony is possible at Azad Maidan or Mahalaxmi Race Court, but the name of the CM has not been decided yet and neither has the BJP even till now. A meeting of MLAs has also been called. Eknath Shinde wants BJP to choose its leader soon, so that discussion can take place in the cabinet. Due to the delay in announcing the name of CM by BJP, there is also speculation that a new name may come.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Mahayuti leaders on Thursday. Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde met Amit Shah along with Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. According to the report, it is being claimed that it was indicated in the meeting that the Chief Minister will be from BJP, but it was not revealed who will ultimately be the Chief Minister.

Will Devendra Fadnavis become CM?

Discussion on the name of Devendra Fadnavis has started since BJP’s victory on 132 seats in Maharashtra Assembly elections, but till now BJP has not officially announced the name of Devendra Fadnavis. Even in the meeting with Amit Shah, no certainty was expressed on the name of Devendra Fadnavis for the post of Chief Minister. After this there is discussion whether BJP can announce a new face for CM.

BJP has already shocked the CM

After the victory in the 2014 assembly elections, many names were in discussion except Eknath Khadse and Gopinath Munde, but BJP surprisingly decided to make Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister. Even after the fall of the Uddhav government, there was speculation about Devendra Fadnavis becoming the Chief Minister, but suddenly Eknath Shinde’s name came up for the CM. Not only this, Devendra Fadnavis was made the Deputy CM in the Eknath Shinde government. BJP has already given such a shock to many states. But the question arises that if Fadnavis does not become CM then who will get the chance? Two names are coming forward for this.

First name Chandrashekhar Bawankule

Bawankule was fielded by BJP in the 2019 elections, but giving him a big responsibility, he was appointed as the State President of Maharashtra on 12 August 2022. Apart from this, Bawankule is also considered close to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Other name Muralidhar Mohol

Apart from Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the name of Pune Lok Sabha seat MP Muralidhar Mohol is also running in the race for the post of Chief Minister. In the 2024 elections, he became an MP for the first time and got a place in the Modi cabinet for the first time. Muralidhar Mohol, who started his political career with BJP about 3 decades ago, has also been the Mayor of Pune.
