Bangladesh Crisis: The violent movement that started demanding the removal of reservation is now having very serious consequences in Bangladesh. A very worrying situation has arisen in Bangladesh amid widespread arson and violence. Amid the ongoing turmoil in the neighboring country, student union president Akram Hussain has termed the last 16 years of rule of the Awami League as 'tyrannical and fascist'.

Hossain described the Awami League rule as a period full of “kidnappings, killings and anarchy”. He said the nationwide unrest reflected long-standing frustration among the people.

The result of the long-suppressed anger of the general public

Hussain also said that the fall of the regime has exposed the long-suppressed anger and emotional grievances of the general public. He also condemned the police's way of handling the situation. He claimed that violence has increased since Sheikh Hasina's resignation and departure for India on Monday afternoon. In an interview, Hussain said that not only this, after dictator Sheikh Hasina left for India, the police and her supporters attacked a crowd of students.

The moral basis of the entire police force has been destroyed

Hussain said the police had failed in their duty to deal with the unrest peacefully. He said the autocratic government had broken the moral base of the entire police force. As a result, a large number of policemen opened fire on the crowd of innocent students.

Hussain said that public celebrations and violence usually follow the fall of any dictatorship in Bangladesh. However, he stressed that they are capable of restoring order quickly. He said that 24-hour security has already been put in place at all possible locations so that no miscreants can create chaos.

What to expect from the interim government?

Akram Hussain has highlighted the need to correct the party's widespread partisanship that developed during Sheikh Hasina's rule. He said that the partisanship that took place in all areas during Hasina's fascist rule must be changed.

Looking ahead, Hossain assured that the interim government would prioritise rebuilding the police force and restoring its image. He vowed that steps would be taken to prevent the creation of a 'fascist state structure' in Bangladesh. According to Hossain, the interim administration will focus on building a team that will earn the trust of all parties and promote an inclusive society.
