New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday expressed regret over the security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on January 5. Channi expressed regret while participating in a virtual meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi with Chief Ministers and Lt Governors/Administrators of States and Union Territories to review the current COVID situation and the ongoing vaccination campaign.

‘Stay safe till the doom and may God not be the doom’

Channi said, ‘You had gone to Punjab. I am sorry for what happened. Sources said Channi also wished the prime minister a long life. According to sources, Channi said, ‘Aap salamat raho doyamat tak aur khuda kare qayamat na ho.’

PM’s rally was canceled due to security lapse

The prime minister’s rally in Ferozepur on January 5 had to be canceled due to a security lapse, as some protesters blocked a road and his convoy had to spend about 20 minutes on a flyover. The Prime Minister was on his way to the National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala at the time of the incident.

‘There was no security lapse’

Channi had earlier said that there was no security lapse during the Prime Minister’s visit to the state. Channi had said, there was no lapse in any kind of security and there was no situation of any kind of attack.
