Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Gujarat and a fresh round of rain/thunderstorm may begin over eastern India from Wednesday. Light to moderate, widespread rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected over western India, the IMD said in its bulletin. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Gujarat and Southern Rajasthan on Monday and Tuesday.
The weather agency said light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at isolated places over northwest India. IMD said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh on Monday.
Fear of storm in eastern India
IMD said, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in eastern India, later heavy rain, storm and lightning. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim as well as Jharkhand on Wednesday and Friday. West Bengal, located on the banks of Ganga, may receive moderate to heavy rain on Monday, Thursday and Friday.
“Rains are expected over Odisha till Thursday with very heavy falls at isolated places on Wednesday and Thursday,” the forecast said. There may be heavy rain in Bihar on Thursday and Friday also.”
What will be the condition of North-East?
The IMD has also predicted light to moderate scattered to very widespread rainfall and thunderstorm over Northeast India. “Heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during Monday and Friday,” it said. But there is a possibility of very heavy rain.”
According to IMD, light to moderate widespread rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning is likely over central India. There is a possibility of heavy rain at different places in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday and Friday.
