Vinesh, a 29-year-old wrestler from Haryana, is a three-time Olympian, having competed in three different weight categories in all three Games. While she competed in 48kg women's wrestling at the 2016 Rio Olympics, she will compete in 53kg women's wrestling at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and in 50kg women's wrestling at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
She has won three gold medals in three different weight categories at three Commonwealth Games in 2014, 2018 and 2022. After winning the gold medal in 2018, Vinesh also became the first Indian female wrestler to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in the same year. She has also won two bronze medals at the World Wrestling Championships in 2019 and 2022.
