Varun Dhawan’s action-packed film ‘Baby John’ was released on the big screen on Christmas. However, despite strong action and story, the film failed to meet expectations at the box office. The film earned only Rs 20 lakh in 15 days, which is considered extremely disappointing.

In this film, famous actor Rajpal Yadav has played the role of Deputy Constable Ram Sevak. He shared his opinion on the reasons for the failure of the film and the work of Varun Dhawan.

Why did the film flop?

In an interview given to Bollywood Bubble, Rajpal Yadav said that ‘Baby John’ was a good film, but the reason for its flop was that it was a remake of the Tamil film ‘Theri’.
He said:

“If this film had not been a remake, it would have been the best film of my 25-year career. But being a remake affected its box office performance.”

Rajpal Yadav’s praise for Varun Dhawan

Rajpal Yadav was asked whether Varun Dhawan is in depression due to the failure of ‘Baby John’. To this he clearly refused and said:

“Varun is a very hardworking and sweet boy. He has always tried to do something different. “His hard work and ability to take risks should be appreciated.”

Rajpal Yadav praised the efforts of Varun Dhawan and said that his performance in this film was excellent. Varun played the role of DCP Satya Verma, while Rajpal played the role of Constable Ram Sevak.

Rajpal Yadav’s acting got praise

The film may not have performed well at the box office, but Rajpal Yadav’s acting is getting a lot of appreciation from the audience and critics. His comic timing and depth of character won the hearts of the audience.

What was wrong with ‘Baby John’?

A major reason behind the failure of the film is being considered as a remake film.

  • Comparison to the Original: Fans of ‘Theri’ compared it to the original film, and found it inferior.
  • Lack of Promotion: The film’s promotion was relatively weak, limiting its reach to audiences.
  • Script and Adaptation: Despite being a remake, the script and story lacked innovation, which failed to draw the audience to the theatres.
