Kanpur, May 24 (HS). Cyber criminals trapped a woman from Kanpur by luring her to complete a part-time task through a Telegram group and promising good profits. Cyber criminals also got nine lakh rupees transferred from the woman to their accounts, but when the woman realized that she had been cheated, she complained to the police. On this, the cyber crime police team arrested two accused of cyber fraud.
Cyber Crime Police Station in-charge Inspector Harmeet Singh said on Friday that Akanksha Gupta, a resident of E Block of Chakeri police station area, had lodged a case of cyber fraud on April 25. According to the case, a call came on the victim's mobile number and she was lured to complete a part-time task through a Telegram group and get good profits.
The victim fell into their trap and transferred Rs 9 lakh to the bank account mentioned by them. After this, she realized that she had been cheated and filed a case in the cyber crime police station. The case was thoroughly investigated and two accused have been arrested from Kanpur Central Station.
The accused have also transferred the money to other accounts. The arrested accused Sunil Kumar Gupta is a resident of Lucknow and the other Ajay Patel is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar. Four mobile phones and seven SIM cards have been recovered from them. So far, investigation has revealed that they have committed cyber fraud in this manner by swindling lakhs of rupees. Legal action is being taken against both of them and they are being sent to jail.
