Varanasi, 31 July (HS). Toto drivers demonstrated by taking out a procession in front of the Police Line Traffic Police Office for various demands. After the demonstration, the delegation of drivers handed over the memorandum of their demands to the police officers. Praveen Kashi, an officer of the All India E-Rickshaw Drivers Union, who was involved in the demonstration, said that the Toto drivers had come to the office of the Additional Police Commissioner. The traffic department has made a route for the vehicles and given it to the Toto Union. According to Praveen, this route is not in the interest of the drivers. This will have a direct impact on their income.
Toto drivers will be looted and their interests will be hurt. Already flour, rice and pulses are expensive. How will the drivers pay the school fees of their children? Their job is not a government job; there is discrimination in private jobs and they do not get salary. The drivers are already troubled. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this scheme in 2016 to become self-reliant. The unemployed can easily support themselves and their families by taking e-rickshaws. But today the situation is the opposite. Toto drivers' vehicles are being punctured at every intersection. Instead of issuing challans, the traffic police are raising their hands on us. We are not able to deposit the installment of the bank loan of the e-rickshaw. The district administration and municipal corporation should consider our demands.
