Mumbai: Arshad Khan was arrested from Lucknow, seven months after the Ghatkopar hoarding incident. In which Arshad Khan used modern methods to avoid arrest and changed more than 50 SIM cards and many mobile phones. Therefore it was impossible to track him. Moreover, he kept changing his location frequently. However, after seven months the police managed to catch him.

According to the information received, in a tragic accident on May 13, a huge 120 by 140 feet hoarding of Ego Media fell on a petrol pump due to strong winds. 17 people died in this accident. More than 70 people were injured.

Arshad’s name came up during the interrogation of former Ego Media director Jhanvi Marathe. In which Janhvi said in the police statement that after suspended Qaiser Khalid allowed Arshad to put up hoardings on the Eastern Express Highway, Ego Media gave blank checks to Arshad for Ghana in 2021 and 2022.

Arshad Khan, a businessman based in Govandi, persuaded many people of Govandi to deposit these blank checks in their bank accounts and Arshad Khan lured the people of Govandi by depositing checks worth Rs. 1000 in the bank accounts of all the people and giving them commission. Gave. Rs 84 lakh was withdrawn from the bank.

However, he absconded after the accident. Therefore the crime branch searched for him. However, to stay away from the police radar, Arshad changed more than 50 SIM cards. That’s why the police could not track him. He would destroy the SIM card after every call and also change mobile phones to avoid being tracked. During this period he did not even contact his family members and relatives. Moreover, he kept changing his location to Hyderabad, Lucknow and other cities across the country without leaving any evidence.

Therefore, for six months the police had no clue about Arshad. Therefore, the police took his information and investigated the matter further. In which, based on the information about Arshad being in Lucknow, the Crime Branch team reached Lucknow. Arshad used to come to Lucknow earlier also for work and was familiar with the city. Therefore, the Crime Branch team kept an eye on the area for a few days and on December 30, Arshad was picked up in front of Bukkal Nawab Apartment in Hussainabad area of ​​Thakurganj, Lucknow.

Arshad did not change his attire. So the crime branch identified him. After this he was taken to Thakurganj police station and after completing the legal formalities, he was arrested in the Ghatkopar hoarding incident case. The police presented Arshad in the court and sent him to police custody till 6 January.
