If your account is in public sector Punjab National Bank (PNB) then this news is for you. The bank has warned customers that if there has been no transaction from their account for the last 3 years. Apart from this, if there is no outstanding amount in the account then such account will be closed after one month. According to the bank, this step will be taken to prevent misuse of such accounts. To avoid any kind of risk, the bank has decided to close such accounts. The bank said that 3 years will be counted till 30th April.
There will be no impact on such accounts
Demat account linked accounts, standing instructions with active locker, accounts for customers below 25 years of age, small accounts, Sukanya Samriddhi, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), PMSBY, APY, DBT accounts opened for DBT closed Will not happen. Apart from this, accounts frozen on the orders of the court, Income Tax Department or any other statutory authority will also not be closed under this.
Tremendous increase in daily payment facility
On the other hand, private sector ICICI Bank is offering NRI customers the facility to use international mobile numbers to make UPI payments in India. Such bank customers can make UPI payments using UPI ID by scanning any Indian QR code or sending money to any Indian mobile number or Indian bank account. The bank said that this has tremendously increased their daily payment facility.

With this facility, NRI customers of the Bank can make their bill, merchant and e-commerce transactions payments from the international mobile number registered with their NRE/NRO bank account with ICICI Bank in the country. The bank has provided this service through its mobile banking app iMobile Pay. Earlier, foreigners had to register an Indian mobile number with their banks to make UPI payments.
