There should not be power cuts beyond the scheduled time, fix faults soon: A.K. Sharma

Lucknow, 09 July (HS). All the areas of the state should be given uninterrupted power supply as per the scheduled schedule. Wherever there is additional power cut, the shortage should be met by giving more power. Consumers should not have to face power cuts during rainy season. In case of power interruption or fault, try to fix it soon. Take prompt cognizance of the complaints of consumers and ensure quality solution. Efforts should also be made for revenue collection in proportion to the power supply. Energy Minister A.K. Sharma said this.

While giving these instructions to the officers, he said that along with adequate electricity supply, efficiency of the electricity personnel, their dedication and loyalty and good conduct are also very important to strengthen the economy of the state. Urban Development and Energy Minister Shri AK Sharma was reviewing the work of electricity distribution corporations with senior officials at the Urban Bodies Directorate on Tuesday. He said that to ensure that the state gets electricity for 24 hours, all the personnel will have to completely curb electricity theft in their areas as well as reduce line loss and also charge for the electricity consumed. Take strict action against those who steal electricity. Revenue will not increase by harassing small consumers, rather efforts should be made to collect revenue from big consumers.

Energy Minister A.K. Sharma said that meetings should be held to establish dialogue between public representatives and electricity personnel and the problems raised by them should be resolved and their suggestions should be implemented. During rainy season, electric equipment, poles, staywires and transformer mesh often get short-circuited, due to which there is a possibility of loss of life as well as animal life. Keep checking this also. Use modern technology to prevent the death of personnel due to electrical accidents. Provide safety equipment to the personnel working on the power line. Fix the crooked electricity poles and hanging wires; if the supply gets disrupted due to breakage of line and pole during storm and rain, make efforts for quick restoration.

In the meeting, the Energy Minister directed to strengthen the power system of Banaras, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya and to pay special attention to the serious complaints coming from districts like Prayagraj, Balrampur etc. Chairman UPPCL Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal said that a lot of electricity was supplied in summer this year, in comparison to which revenue recovery was not done. To increase revenue recovery, the Managing Directors of all Discoms have been instructed to identify such distribution divisions and sub-centres in their areas whose per unit throughrate in the year 2023-24 was less than the year 2022-23 and take action against such officers. Managing Director UPPCL Pankaj Kumar, Managing Director Generation Corporation and Transmission Ranbir Prasad, MDs of all Discoms, Directors, Chief Engineers of all zones, Superintending Engineers were present in the meeting.
