Managed by the South Dang Forest Division, this national park is abundant with dense moist deciduous forests. Due to the dense canopy, some parts of the park remain dark even during the day. It is one of the top destinations for nature lovers visiting Saputara. The park is home to various wildlife species such as tigers, leopards, wild boars, sambar deer, four-horned deer and many reptile and bird species. You may also encounter tribal communities in the surrounding area. The best time to visit Vansada National Park is between October and March. Saputara Lake: Located about 1.5 km from Saputara Hill Station, Saputara Lake is one of the most famous picnic spots in the Saputara Valley. The artificial lake is surrounded by lush greenery and is famous for boating activities. The place is rich in children’s parks and open spaces for recreational activities. Several boating clubs near the lake provide boating facilities to the visitors. Gira Waterfall: Gira Waterfall, located near Waghai in Vanarwad village, is a popular destination during the monsoon season. This is one of the best places to visit in Saputara for nature lovers. This waterfall is also known as Girmal Waterfall. Both Gira and Girmal waterfalls are located in Dang district but are quite far from each other. Gira Falls is near Waghai, while Girmal Falls is in Girmal village. Please note that these waterfalls attract good crowds throughout the year. Nageshwar Mahadev Temple: For those interested in religious sites, the ancient Nageshwar Mahadev Temple, also known as Nageshwar Temple, is a must-see. This beautiful temple is situated on the southern bank of Saputara Lake. It is noteworthy that this temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Visiting this temple gives a feeling of peace and tranquility. How to reach Saputara: By flight: The nearest domestic airport is Surat, which is about 120 km away, while the nearest international airport is Mumbai, which is about 250 km away. From both the cities you can reach Saputara by road via bus or taxi.
