The outstanding money of UP T-20 league should not be used as a hindrance in Test cricket

Kanpur, 29 June (HS). Despite the successful organization of UP T-20 League played between 29 August and 17 September last year at Green Park Stadium, the Sports Department's inability to deposit the league's rent may create a big problem for UPCA. Permission for the test cricket match against Bangladesh from 27 September does not seem possible without payment of fee. The Sports Department has sent letters to the government several times to provide information regarding fee payment.

Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has not yet deposited the 10.31 crore rupees for organizing the UP T-20 League held in Green Park, Uttar Pradesh, with the Sports Department. The government had asked the Sports Directorate the reason for giving a 50 percent discount in the fee, after which the department also sent its report to the government, on which the government also issued instructions to deposit half the match fee. Even after the instructions issued in December, UPCA has not yet expressed any reaction on this. Other details including ticket sales were sought, after which the Sports Directorate summoned the full report from the Green Park administration. Six teams from UP participated in it. UPCA has been decided to pay an amount of 25 lakhs to the Sports Directorate per match in Green Park, according to which UPCA had to pay 10.31 crore rupees to the Sports Department, which has not been given.

It is noteworthy that UPCA had asked for 50% discount in match fees from the government. More than 10 months after the league ended, the government has once again become active. Since a test match is to be organized here after the next two months and UPCA wants Green Park once again, it will have to deposit the rent as well. If UPCA does not deposit the previous dues, then difficulties will definitely arise in getting the ground allotted for the test match. Since the Sports Department has been sending letters to UPCA asking it to deposit the money for the T-20 league. The government accepted that giving a discount of up to 50% is not right.

According to the UPCA, unlike the IPL, no financial assistance was received from the BCCI for this event held at Green Park Kanpur. Apart from this, tickets could not be sold, apart from this no money was taken from TV broadcasting. Green Park Deputy Director RN Singh said on Saturday that the government has been informed once again about the money. The ground will not be booked further without UPCA depositing the league fee. He said that the Directorate will take the final decision on what conditions the ground should be allotted to the association for the test match without depositing the fee.
