Ghaziabad, June 29 (HS). A team of Delhi Police had come to Ghaziabad to arrest a wanted criminal in a theft case from Gokulpuri police station in Ankur Vihar area. During this, the criminal who fired at the police team died during treatment at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital on Saturday.
On Friday, the criminal had fired on the police team that had come for raid and a head constable of Delhi Police was injured by his bullet. The deceased criminal was the nephew of a wanted criminal. Later, the police arrested the criminal who fired the shot. During the scuffle, the criminal's pistol fired and he himself got injured. The constable and the criminal were admitted to the hospital for treatment, where the criminal died.
DCP (rural) Vivek Chandra Yadav told the media that the Delhi Police team had come to raid the Dabar Talab area of Ankur Vihar police station area in search of Suhail alias Monu, a criminal wanted in a theft case in Gokalpuri police station. The police raided and caught Suhail, but during this time his nephew Rehan reached there with an illegal pistol and held the Delhi Police at gunpoint. He threatened to kill them and released his uncle Suhail from police custody. Delhi Police informed its senior officials and Ankur Vihar police about this. In a short while, Ankur Vihar police of Delhi Police reached the spot and surrounded them. Meanwhile, as soon as the police opened the door of the house, Rehan opened fire on the police with an illegal pistol. Delhi SOG constable Vijay Rathi was injured in the firing. Vijay Rathi was shot on the shoulder. Amidst the firing of the miscreant, the constables caught Rehan, but in the scuffle, Rehan's already loaded pistol fired and the bullet hit him. The injured constable and the miscreant Rihaan were admitted to the hospital by the police, where the miscreant died during treatment.
DCP (rural) Vivek Chandra Yadav said that Rihaan was of criminal nature. Several criminal cases are registered against his wanted uncle Suhail alias Monu and his mother in Delhi and Ghaziabad. His mother is currently in jail.
