New Delhi, 23 April (HS). After facing ups and downs throughout the day, the domestic stock market managed to close with gains for the third consecutive trading day today. Today's trading had started on a strong note, but the tussle between bulls and bears continued throughout the day, due to which the movement of the stock market also kept going up and down. After the entire day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.12 percent and Nifty with a gain of 0.14 percent.
Today, during the day's trading, shares of IT, FMCG, realty and power sectors were bought the most. Similarly, Infrastructure and Automobile indices also closed with gains. On the other hand, there was selling pressure in shares of metal, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and energy sectors. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.52 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today's trading with a jump of 1.05 percent.
Today, due to the boom in the market, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 2.25 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased to Rs 399.68 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the last trading day i.e. Monday, their market capitalization was Rs 397.86 lakh crore. In this way, investors got a profit of about Rs 1.82 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 3,934 shares in BSE in the day's trading. Of these, 2335 shares closed with gains, while 1,480 shares were in decline, while 119 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,224 shares in NSE today. Of these, 1,372 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 852 shares closed in the red after incurring losses. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 18 shares closed with gains and 12 shares closed with decline. Whereas out of the stocks included in Nifty, 29 stocks closed in the green mark and 21 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex jumped 400.32 points today and opened at 74,048.94 points. With the beginning of trading, competition started between buyers and sellers to dominate each other, due to which the movement of this index also kept fluctuating continuously. With the support of buying, this index gained 411.27 points and reached the level of 74,059.89 points. At the same time, due to selling pressure, it also dived up to 73,688.31 points. However, it is a matter of relief that despite the selling pressure, this index continued to trade in the green mark. After buying and selling throughout the day, the Sensex closed at 73,738.45 points with a gain of 89.83 points.
Like Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading today with a gain of 110.65 points at the level of 22,447.05 points. Due to the tussle between bulls and bears as soon as the market opened, the movement of this index also kept going up and down. With the support of buying, this index rose by 111.15 points to reach 22,447.55 points. At the same time, under selling pressure it fell to 22,349.45 points. After the whole day's buying and selling, Nifty closed at 22,368 points with a gain of 31.60 points.
After the day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Grasim Industries joined the list of today's top 5 gainers with a gain of 3.93 percent, Bharti Airtel 3.45 percent, Nestle 1.73 percent, Maruti Suzuki 1.65 percent and HCL Technology 1.42 percent. On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceuticals 3.60 percent, BPCL 1.73 percent, Reliance Industries 1.39 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra 1.34 percent and Hindalco Industries joined the list of today's top 5 losers with a weakness of 1.09 percent.
