Prayagraj, July 31 (HS). Allahabad High Court has extended the stay on oppressive action against former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary and Dara Singh Chauhan and seven other leaders accused in a case registered in other districts including taking out a procession in violation of Covid rules in Sector 49 of Gautam Buddha Nagar and has fixed August 6 as the date for the next hearing.
This order has been given by Justice Rajiv Mishra while hearing the petitions filed by these leaders. A case has been registered against these people for violating the Covid guidelines. The government has to decide whether criminal action should be taken in this case or not.
Earlier, Home Secretary Sanjeev Gupta had said that this is a matter of government policy and time is needed to take a decision. It was also said that due to the Lok Sabha elections, the Model Code of Conduct is in force right now, so a policy decision cannot be taken. The court had sought personal affidavits in this matter from the Principal Secretary Home and Principal Secretary Justice.
