Meerut, May 29 (HS). A woman died under suspicious circumstances in Valmiki Basti near Ghantaghar in Delhi Gate police station area. The body of the woman was found hanging from a noose in a room of the house. Police has sent the body for postmortem and started investigation.
Nikhil, a municipal corporation sanitation worker, lives in Valmiki Basti near Ghantaghar in Delhi Gate police station area. He was married to Barkha, a resident of Khatauli, one and a half years ago. Late on Tuesday night, Barkha's body was found hanging from a noose in the room. Police reached the spot on information and investigated. The forensic team also went to the spot and collected evidence.
When the police questioned Nikhil, he told that he had an argument with his wife Barkha over something. After this, Barkha went to another room and hanged herself from the fan. On receiving the information, Barkha's father Bijendra, mother Rajesh Devi, brother Deepak and many other family members reached the spot. They created a ruckus at the Delhi Gate police station, accusing the police of murdering Barkha. After this, the police sent the body for post-mortem. After the post-mortem on Wednesday, the body was handed over to the family.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of the deceased's parents and have taken the husband and father-in-law into custody. According to the police, the post-mortem report is awaited.
