Taking strict action against those driving beyond the prescribed speed limit on Yamuna Expressway, the traffic police issued more than 150 e-challans within eight hours. At present the speed limit on Yamuna Expressway has been fixed at 100 kilometers per hour for light vehicles and 80 kilometers per hour for heavy vehicles. This speed limit is imposed to avoid accidents due to poor visibility due to fog during the winter season.

Fine for speeding

A fine of Rs 2,000 is imposed on light vehicles breaking the Yamuna Expressway speed limit, while a fine of Rs 4,000 is imposed on heavy vehicles. The speed limit may be further reduced between December 15 and February 15 to make travel safer during winter. There will be a limit of 75 kilometers per hour for light vehicles and 60 kilometers per hour for heavy vehicles.

Road Safety Initiative

The traffic police celebrates the month of November as 'Road Safety Month'. During this period, many types of awareness programs are organized in Noida and Greater Noida. In this connection, programs were organized at many places including Okhla Bird Century Metro Station, Sector 94 and Kalindi Kunj on Thursday. Additional speed control drives have also been planned on the Noida Expressway connecting Noida and Greater Noida.
