Lucknow: Amidst the preparations for Mahakumbh in Uttar Pradesh, All India Muslim Jamaat President Maulana Shahabuddin Barelvi has written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. And it has been claimed that the Kumbh Mela could lead to mass conversion of Muslims. Appropriate steps should be taken to stop this. Earlier, Barelvi had requested Muslims not to participate in Mahakumbh.

Speaking to PTI, Barelvi said that he has received information that there is a plan to convert a large number of Muslims during the Kumbh programme. Being a responsible citizen, I have informed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about this. Therefore, now it is the responsibility of the state to take appropriate action in this matter. Earlier, Barelvi had advised Muslims not to go to Kumbh Mela. Clarifying on this, he has now given a different opinion. And it has been said that the Akhara Parishad had held a meeting in November last year and demanded that Muslims should not be allowed to open shops during Kumbh. After which I advised Muslims not to go to Kumbh. Whereas Uttar Pradesh Haj Committee Chairman Mohsin Raza criticized Maulana Barelvi and said that Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat had said that some people want to become leaders only by creating controversy. Such people will be found everywhere. I have attended Kumbh many times, many Muslims also go there. Muslims are also involved in the entire planning. Therefore, it is not Sanat Sanat to demand that Muslims stay away from Kumbh. Our culture is known for brotherhood and unity. Therefore banning Muslims from Kumbh may be a personal opinion. All those who have written to the Chief Minister about religious conversion have themselves joined the religious conversion.
