The Indian stock market closed on a positive note on Monday, the first day of trading on 23 September. The Sensex and Nifty of the market opened at an all-time high in the morning as well. Sensex and Nifty reached new all-time highs for the third consecutive trading day. During today's trading, the Sensex touched 84,980 and the Nifty touched 25,956.
After this, the Sensex closed 384 points higher at 84,928. Nifty also closed 148 points higher at 25,939. Auto, FMCG and banking stocks saw further gains today.

On the first day of trading today, ICICI Bank shares recorded the maximum decline of 1.27 percent. Similarly, Indusind Bank shares closed with a decline of 1.05 percent, Asian Paints 1.02 percent, Tech Mahindra 0.94 percent, Infosys 0.63 percent, HCL Tech 0.49 percent, TCS 0.40 percent, Larsen & Toubro 0.25 percent and Sun Pharma shares closed with a decline of 0.25 percent.
Market cap at record high
The market cap of the stock market closed at a new all-time high as the stock market closed at a record high today. For the first time, the market cap of BSE-listed stocks crossed Rs. 476 lakh crore, which had closed at a record high of Rs 471.71 lakh crore in the previous session.
The market made an all-time high on Friday
Earlier on Friday, September 20, the Sensex reached a new all-time high of 84,694 and the Nifty reached a new all-time high of 25,849. After the day's trading, the Sensex closed 1359 points higher at 84,544. At the same time, the Nifty closed 375 points higher at 25,790.
