RCB wins WPL 2024 title: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have created history in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 season. In the final match played on Sunday, RCB ended its title drought by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 8 wickets. RCB girls, led by Smriti Mandhana, did what Virat Kohli and the brigade could not do in the 16 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
This was the second season of the WPL.
This was the second season of WPL, which RCB has won. Mumbai Indians (MI) became the champion in the first season. Both times Delhi Capitals had to face defeat in the final. But with RCB women's team winning the title, the pressure on Kohli and the brigade is sure to increase in the IPL.
RCB reached only one final under Kohli's captaincy.
Actually, 16 seasons have been played in IPL so far and RCB team has not been able to win the title even once. Virat Kohli captained RCB from 2013 to 2021. During this period, RCB has played the IPL final only once. Till now RCB has played the IPL finals thrice (2009, 2011, 2016), but every time it has faced disappointment. Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bat first in the final of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024. After this the entire team was reduced to 113 runs in 18.3 overs. For Delhi, Shefali Verma played an inning of 44 runs in 27 balls. While captain Meg Lanning scored 23 runs. Shreyanka Patil took 4 wickets and Sophie Molineux took 3 wickets for RCB.
