New Delhi: The number of nuclear weapons is increasing across the world. China has added 90 more nuclear weapons to its arsenal. Not only this, it has also kept its nuclear forces on high alert. India has also recently started increasing its stock of only 172 nuclear weapons.
Stockholm International P.C. Research Institute (SIPRI) has given this information yesterday that at the beginning of 2024, 9 countries of the world, Russia, America, China, France, Britain, India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel have a total of 12,121 nuclear weapons. Out of these, 3,904 are deployed in a state of war. Out of these, 2,100 nuclear weapons have been kept on high operational alert. This number is 100 more than last year.
Till now only Russia and America have kept their nuclear capable missiles on high alert. But now for the first time China has kept more than 90 of its nuclear weapons on high alert.
India's Defence Ministry has said that nuclear weapons have once again taken a central role in the geopolitical landscape, India's Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said at a symposium at the Centre for Air Power Studies today.
