New Delhi: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina broke her silence on the situation in Bangladesh today (August 14) after leaving the country. She said, “A frenzy of vandalism has spread in the name of protest in Bangladesh.” Along with this, she requested the current government of the country to punish those who vandalized the statue of her father and Bangladesh's founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A 3-page message of the former Bangladesh Prime Minister was posted at the post office today by her son Sajeeb Wazed Sheikh. An emotional Sheikh Hasina said that on 15 August 1975, my father, my brother, their wives and all the members of my uncle's family, my father's close friends and colleagues were killed. All this was done by army rebels in a single night.
After this, while talking about the current situation in Bangladesh, he said, 'There is a frenzy of destruction going on in the name of protest, which is resulting in many deaths. Students, teachers, police as well as Awami League leaders, workers, supporters and the general public have also been killed in this.' He further said, 'My condolences to anyone like me who has lost their loved ones due to these riots. I demand an investigation into this massacre.'
