Sensex jumped 941 points to reach 74671

Bankex index up 1475 points: ICICI up Rs 52, State Bank up Rs 25

Among banking-finance shares, the BSE Bankex index jumped 1,474.84 points to close at 56,081.13 as funds bought heavily today after the bank's results. Shares of ICICI Bank rose by Rs 51.65 to Rs 1158.80 as quarterly net profit increased by 17.4 percent. While AU Small Finance Bank rose by Rs 39.10 to Rs 638.90, State Bank of India rose by Rs 24.75 to Rs 826.15, IndusInd Bank rose by Rs 41.90 to Rs 1487.75, Axis Bank also had good results and attracted sustained buying by Rs 27.95 to Rs 1158. , Kotak Mahindra Bank stopped short covering by Rs 31.85 to Rs 1640.25, HDFC Bank rose by Rs 19.05 to Rs 1528.80, Bank of Baroda rose by Rs 4.55 to Rs 272.70.

Selective rise in auto stocks: Cummins up by Rs 63 at Rs 3303: TI India, Bosch, TVS rise

Shares of automobile companies also rose today. UltraTech Cement's quarterly net profit rose 36 per cent to Rs 2,258 crore and the board declared a dividend of Rs 70 per share (700 per cent), sending the stock up Rs 262.05 to Rs 9,962.25 on aggressive buying. With this, the price of Grasim Industries increased by Rs 42.65 to Rs 2388.05, the price of Shree Cement increased by Rs 26.75 to Rs 24,168.15, the price of JK Cement increased by Rs 4067.05, the price of Kakatiya Cement increased by Rs 4.45 to Rs 224, the price of Heidelberg Cement increased by Rs 4.45 to Rs 224.05.
