New Delhi, Aug 31 (HS). Old Delhi 6 batsman Vansh Bedi believes his hard-hitting performance against East Delhi Riders in the recent match has given the team the much-needed confidence to move forward.
Old Delhi 6 had lost the match by 27 runs while chasing East Delhi's mammoth score of 241 runs in this Delhi Premier League (DPL) match held at Shri Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, but in this match played on Thursday, they fought bravely by scoring 215 runs in their 20 overs.
After the match, Vansh Bedi said, “Scoring 200 runs in an innings is definitely a huge boost for Old Delhi 6 and we hope to continue playing in this manner in the future as well.”
Old Delhi lost this close match to 6 due to the unfortunate dismissal of Vansh, who played a stormy innings of 96 runs in just 41 balls. The young batsman hit 11 sixes during his innings and never let the team fall behind while chasing the huge score.
Vansh further added, “It was great to bat here, the wicket was perfect for the batsman to play his shots and hit sixes wherever he wanted and I did just that.”
He further said, “When I was at the crease I was confident that we would win the match, but unfortunately it was not possible after I was out.”
Talking about the match, Old Delhi 6 had a bit of trouble in the beginning and lost three wickets for just 34 runs in 5.3 overs, but a brilliant partnership of 98 runs in 47 balls for the fourth wicket between Vansh Bedi and Arpit Rana revived the hopes.
Vansh hit boundaries with ease to keep the team in the contest, but as the required run rate increased, Vansh took extra risks and eventually got out on a superb individual score of 96 runs. Arnav Bugga added valuable 28 runs in the final stages, but Old Delhi 6 could only manage 215 runs. The team will now take on West Delhi Lions on Saturday.
