Gorakhpur, 25 July (HS). 'Sambhav' campaign has been started from Wednesday to prevent malnutrition. This campaign will run for the next three months i.e. till 30 September. Chief Development Officer Sanjay Kumar Meena, District Development Officer Rajmani Verma and District Program Officer Abhinav Mishra inaugurated the Sambhav campaign by lighting the lamp, organized by the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department in the district under the direction of District Magistrate Gorakhpur and Chief Development Officer Gorakhpur.
The Chief Development Officer held a monthly review meeting of the District Nutrition Committee along with discussing the strategy of the Sambhav Abhiyan, review of Learning Lab Development, Mission Khilkhilhat. District Program Officer Dr. Abhinav Mishra said that under the Sambhav Abhiyan organized by the Department of Child Development and Nutrition as an innovation from the year 2021, efforts are being made to bring about a change in community behavior for the prevention of malnutrition along with identification, treatment, referral and management of children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) at the community level.
He informed that in this campaign, the health and nutrition of SAM children is promoted in coordination with the Health Department and Child Development and Nutrition Department. In the last three years, the Sambhav Abhiyan has been organized successfully and its positive results have also been achieved. In the year 2024 also, the fourth phase of the Sambhav Abhiyan (SAM Bhav 4-0) will be organized between July to September 2024.
During this program, the CDO also honored the parents of children who were freed from malnutrition under Mission Khilkhilahat. All block level officers were also directed to manage malnourished children. Also, with the help of the health department, all malnourished children were asked to register on the e-Kavach portal and provide them with necessary medicines. During this, in the meeting of the District Nutrition Committee, the Chief Development Officer reviewed the progress of construction of 112 Anganwadi Center buildings and gave necessary instructions to the district and block level officers present to develop learning labs equipped with 18 indicators and basic infrastructure facilities in 75 Anganwadi Center buildings of the district. District Program Officer Dr. Abhinav Mishra said that under the Sambhav Abhiyan, community based management of SAM children and strengthening community based management during the Sambhav Abhiyan.
Community-based programmes will be promoted for identification, referral and treatment of SAM children with severe malnutrition. The campaign will involve enhancing capacity of health facilities, ensuring supply chains of medicines, and establishing strong monitoring (such as District Nutrition Committee and District Health Committee meetings) and reporting systems to track progress and outcomes.
