Prayagraj, May 24 (HS). Allahabad High Court has given relief to Monica, a woman accused of smuggling two kilograms of foreign gold, and ordered her release on bail.
The court said that there is a serious case against the accused but considering the status of the trial, he can be released on bail. The court has ordered the release of the petitioner woman on the basis of personal bond and sureties. This order has been given by Justice Krishna Pahal while accepting the bail plea of petitioner Monika.
The petitioner was accused of illegally smuggling about two kilograms of gold. She was arrested by officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Noida outside the Ghaziabad railway station. An FIR was registered against her on July 12, 2022 at the Noida police station in Gautam Budh Nagar under sections 135(1)(A), 135(1)(B) of the Customs Act.
The petitioner's lawyer said that he has been falsely implicated in the present case. He has nothing to do with this crime. He has been falsely implicated. However, the government lawyer opposed this. But, considering the facts and circumstances, the court accepted the bail application and ordered his release.
