Mumbai: Many eye problems can be treated through eye drops. Eye drops are used to treat complaints such as eye infections, eye injuries or glaucoma. Doctors also recommend eye drops for complaints of dry eyes and red eyes. You may also be using eye drops, but you need to use eye drops properly.

Learn to use eye drops correctly

  • First of all, lie down on your back and tilt your head backwards. Now gently pull the lower eyelid where the eye drop will go with your finger.
  • Now place the bottle of eye drops with the tip of the dropper down over the eye. The tip of the dropper should be as close as possible without touching the eye. While resting the wrist on your forehead, you can support the hand holding the bottle.
  • Press the bottle in such a way that the drop falls on the lower part of the eye
  • Gently close your eyes and lower your face to the ground for two to three minutes. In the meantime, try not to move your eyes, move your eyes, and close your lids tightly.
  • You can use a tissue to wipe the water around your eyes.
  • If you are going to apply drops in the other eye as well, then apply after 5-10 minutes.

What to do when using eye drops?

  • Wash your hands with clean water and soap when opening the lid of the eye drops
  • Always check expiry date
  • If you are using the ointment for the eyes, apply the ointment after using the drops.
