Bangalore : The Karnataka Congress has filed a police complaint demanding the arrest of state Home Minister Araga Gyanendra and BJP national general secretary CT Ravi for making provocative statements in connection with the murder of a youth in Bengaluru.
22-year-old Chandru was murdered in a road rage case in JJ Nagar police station area of Bengaluru on Tuesday midnight.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee lodged a complaint at the Malleswaram police station on Wednesday night.
A delegation led by Congress leader Manohar lodged a complaint and said the statements were intended to paint the entire Muslim community in a bad light.
Gyanendra said on Wednesday that Chandru was killed for talking in Urdu with the accused persons. The Home Minister said, “The murder has been committed for refusing to speak in Urdu and insisting to speak in Kannada language. He was killed with a knife. Police have arrested some people and search is on for other accused.” where did it go. He said, “It is a barbaric incident. After the fight, they suddenly stab her and kill her. I have asked the police to initiate action.”
Later, the minister backtracked and apologized for his statements. He clarified that the murder was a result of road rage.
National General Secretary and BJP MLA CT Ravi had also hit out at the issue that Chandru was murdered for speaking in Kannada.
“The incident should not be viewed in isolation and there are provocations behind this kind of mentality. What is happening in Kashmir can happen in Karnataka also. I condemn this incident. Progressive thinkers have turned a blind eye to this phenomenon. Congress leaders won.” No one will shed tears if a Hindu is killed and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah will not mourn if the victim is a Hindu.
, Hitting out at the home minister’s statement, Siddaramaiah called him an incompetent minister. He said, “He had made such statements in the murder of Bajrang Dal worker Harsha and the Mysore gang rape case. He is not able to maintain the portfolio. It is unfortunate that such a person is our Home Minister.”
Siddaramaiah said, “Initially, he said that Harsh had criminal cases against him and later denied. In the Mysore gang rape case, he had said why women should come to different places during odd hours.”
Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the Home Minister is not serious about his work. “He had used the word ‘Dalit’ instead of ‘Hindu’. This is a trivial statement. They have started running a political agenda in the killings in the state as well.”
