New Delhi, April 11 (H.S.). The Congress Disciplinary Committee on Monday issued show cause notices to former party in-charge of Punjab Sunil Jakhar and party leader from Kerala KV Thomas.

It is noteworthy that after the defeat of Congress in Punjab elections, Jakhar had called Channi corrupt in an interview. At the same time, former Union Minister KV Thomas attended the CPI(M) meeting in the state despite the party’s instructions. Thomas is upset with the party for not being sent to the Rajya Sabha and Sunil Jakhar is upset over his candidature being overlooked for the post of Punjab chief minister.

The disciplinary committee headed by Congress Working Committee member AK Antony considered both on Monday. After the committee meeting, party leader Tariq Anwar told the media that at present, show cause notices have been sent to Jakhar and Thomas. If their reply is not satisfactory, the committee will meet again and take a decision regarding further action.

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja has said that the leaders of the party can express their views at the state level and at the national level if there is no talk there. It is not right to break discipline by making statements in public. If anyone violates discipline, hopefully the party will show him the way out. The new team from Punjab met Rahul Gandhi today.
