New Delhi: The JNU administration on Monday said violence of any kind will not be tolerated on the campus and warned students to indulge in any incident that disturbs peace and harmony on the campus. The warning by JNU came a day after two groups of students at Cauvery hostel on Sunday allegedly served non-vegetarian food on Ram Navami at a mess in which police said six students were injured in the violence.
The registrar said, “Taking a serious note of the incident, the vice-chancellor, rector and other officials visited the hostel and met the students. The VC informed that no violence will be tolerated in the campus and appealed to the students to maintain peace and harmony. An official appeal to students. “JNU Administration reiterates its resolve of zero tolerance towards any form of violence in the campus. The students are also warned to avoid indulging in such incidents which disturb the peace and harmony on the campus. If anyone is found to be indulging in such acts, they will be liable to disciplinary action as per the rules of the university,” he said. According to the police, security has been tightened at Jawaharlal Nehru University to maintain peace and to ensure that no untoward incident happens again.
