New Delhi Odisha-based sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik created a replica of Ram temple at Puri beach in Odisha on the eve of Ram Navami. Patnaik also sculpted 6 feet tall sand art of Ram temple and an idol of Lord Rama.

“I have made an idol of Lord Rama with a miniature of Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, its height is 6 feet. I pray that the temple is built soon,” Sudarshan Patnaik was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Patnaik had created a beautiful sand art of the Ram temple at Puri beach in Odisha last year on the eve of its foundation stone laying ceremony in Ayodhya. Patnaik said he was keen to make a sand sculpture of the temple in Ayodhya during the Bhoomi Pujan, but had to do it at the Puri beach due to the outbreak of Covid-19. “In fact, I had visited Ayodhya last year and conducted a study for the purpose. However, I had to change my plans due to the pandemic,” he said.

Patnaik tweeted pictures and videos of his sand sculpture on the beach. He shared the tweet with the caption, “#JaiShriRam…On the auspicious day of the foundation stone laying ceremony for #RamMandirAyodhya by Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji. My SandArt (sic) at Puri Beach in Odisha.

The artist said, he made a five-feet high replica of the temple on the beach, for which he used about four tonnes of sand. It took about five hours to make this idol. “We are very happy that the temple is going to be constructed after a long wait. It is a historic day for us,” Patnaik said.

Recipient of many awards, Patnaik has participated in more than 60 international sand art competitions across the world and has won many awards for the country.
