New Delhi: From today, all adults above 18 years of age in the country have started getting booster doses of Kovid vaccine. Several studies around the world regarding booster doses have shown that it strengthens the body’s immune system. One such study was conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The results showed that the booster increased antibody levels by up to 400 percent. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, Bharti Praveen Pawar in the Rajya Sabha. He said data from booster doses of the Covacin and AstraZeneca vaccines showed antibody levels increased three-fold to four-fold.

immune system increased by 32 times
At the same time, in another study, UK scientists claimed that people taking booster doses had 32 times stronger protection against infection. According to a report published in the Lancet journal, people who were given a booster dose of AstraZeneca vaccine followed by two doses of Pfizer were found to have 32 times higher antibody levels. Covishield is the only vaccine for AstraZeneca in India. Scientists have made this claim after studying 2,878 people in Britain.

Vaccines are effective in terms of success
According to the ICMR, high levels of antibodies have been found in people who were successful after both the doses of the vaccine. Those who were vaccinated after infection had lower levels of antibodies than those who were not infected. Dr. Pragya Yadav, scientist of National Institute of Virology Pune says that better effect of vaccine has been seen in the third wave of omicron.

Booster will save from new variants
Scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center in the US have claimed that the booster dose of the vaccine is effective in preventing new epidemics and new forms of corona in the future. The claim comes after research conducted on 600 people over the age of 18 at 24 different locations in the United States. Scientists Say Omicron Wave Could Save Lives
