New Delhi: There was chaos on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway on Saturday when traffic was disrupted for hours after a crane broke down.

Vehicles were reported to be parked in the jam that started in the afternoon and was eased in the late evening.


An official communication from Gurugram Police said, “Due to the breakdown of a heavy crane just before exit from Airport Terminal 3 on NH48 in Delhi today, heavy traffic jam on NH 48 (Gurugram to Delhi) since afternoon. done.”


Gurugram Traffic Police diverted traffic at several places including Panchgaon, where traffic was diverted to KMP.

Rest of the traffic was diverted to MG Road and other places.


The police, through a statement, said that it has informed commuters to avoid the stretch via social media and has offered other routes they can take.

It was jammed after a Hydra crane caught fire on the highway near Mahipalpur.

No one was injured in the incident, he said, adding that they were trying to remove the crane that blocked two lanes of the four-lane highway.

He said that it was becoming difficult to get the crane off the road due to the burnt tyres, which are being replaced with new tyres.

Delhi Police in its statement said that more than 15 mechanics are repairing the crane, as the traffic condition remains heavy.
