New Delhi: Aadhar card has become one of the important documents required for citizens to avail benefits under various state sponsored schemes. Cards are also required for rendering their services to various public and private authorities. So, if your phone number is linked with Aadhar card, you will not face many problems in availing the services. Even if your phone number is not linked with your Aadhar card, don’t worry!
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows cardholders to change the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card. However, you will need to visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Center to change the phone number linked to the document.
You should always keep your Aadhaar card number updated to open digital bank accounts, demat accounts, and more. All your Aadhaar-based online KYC can be completed online if your mobile number is linked to a 12-digit virtual ID.
Here’s how to update the phone number on your Aadhaar card:
Step 1: First of all, you need to make an appointment by visiting the official UIDAI website or your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center.
Step 2: On the day of your appointment, you will have to meet the official executive at the Aadhaar Enrollment Centre.
Step 3: You have to submit the Aadhaar Enrollment Form to the Executive.
Step 4: The executive will verify your details through the biometric information.
Step 5: The executive will change the phone number details.
Step 6: You have to pay the fee for the Aadhaar update service.
Step 7: You will receive an acknowledgment slip from the official. The slip will contain an Update Request Number (URN). You can use the URN to track the status of your Aadhar card request.
Once your phone number is updated, you will be able to download the Aadhar card from the official website of UIDAI. You can also get a PVC print of Aadhar card ordered by paying a small fee.
