Bangalore: The Karnataka government on Saturday imposed Section 144 in Mulbagal town for the next 48 hours after miscreants allegedly pelted stones during a procession in the city. Tension prevailed in Mulbagal town after miscreants created a ruckus in the Shri Ram Shobha Yatra procession on Friday night.
Giving details, the police said that the situation has been brought under control and five people have been arrested in this case. So far, a total of nine persons have been detained for questioning and three FIRs have been registered.
According to the police, two bikes and a car were torched during the incident, while an automobile shop was pelted with stones.
The procession organized on the eve of Ram Navami started from Shivkeshav Nagar in the afternoon and proceeded towards Jahangir locality at around 7.40 pm, when the power supply came to a standstill after which the miscreants pelted stones on the idol of Ram being carried in the procession. ,
During the commotion, the windows of two cars were damaged and a bike was set on fire, police said. Police further said that some local youths have received injuries in the incident.
