Anantapur: A group of robbers entered two bogies of a train on Friday and robbed passengers on the outer track of Turkapalli here. Two passengers in the S6 and S7 bogies of 7 Hills Express were robbed of 6 tola gold ornaments and other items. The thieves had allegedly cut off the railway system signal, due to which the train came to a halt on the outer tracks, a few kilometers from Gutti railway station in Anantapur district.
The attackers then entered two bogies of the train and robbed some passengers. There was panic among the passengers, though no one was physically harmed during the crime. The incident was reported to the Railway Police in Dhon, after which the police immediately reached the spot and inspected the disturbances in the system. The signal was soon rectified and the train started running, providing relief from the sudden halt among the passengers and the havoc of the robbers.
The victims then lodged a complaint with the Railway Police at Don and Kacheguda stations after the train reached Hyderabad. Railway police sources said that a case has been registered on the complaint of the victims. The police also said that they will take strict action against the perpetrators while the investigation is on in the matter.
