Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has promised to look into the issue of charging additional charges from passengers for issuance of boarding cards at the airport. Scindia’s remarks came after a passenger claimed on Twitter that SpiceJet has implemented a new policy wherein the airline charges extra for providing boarding passes at the check-in counters.

Many Indian airlines already charge passengers for getting their boarding ticket at the check-in counter. With the onset of the pandemic, when the government made web check-in mandatory for passengers, airlines aggressively used this technology. Shikha said how can an airline charge a consumer extra for a ticket that has already been paid for.



Recently, Scindia had taken cognizance of another airport incident in which he had said that he would investigate the alleged misbehavior by an IndiGo employee with a disabled child at the Ranchi airport.


On May 7, an IndiGo manager allegedly did not allow a disabled child to board the flight. Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought a report from IndiGo on the incident.
