New Delhi : Nine people, including six firefighters, were injured when an LPG cylinder caught fire at a chemical and electrical equipment manufacturing factory in the national capital in the early hours of Saturday.

A fire brigade official said that they received information about an incident of fire at a factory located on Gali No 4 of Anand Parbat Industrial Area of ​​Delhi at 4.43 am, following which 10 fire tenders were immediately pressed into service.

“While firefighters were dousing the fire, an LPG cylinder exploded, injuring six firefighters and three civilians,” the official said. The condition of the injured is now stable.

The official confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident, however, there has certainly been massive property damage. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

“The fire broke out on the first and third floors and also on the roof of the four-storey factory, which has an area of ​​175 square yards,” the official said.

Significantly, the incident took place on the same day when several shops were gutted in a massive fire in Delhi’s Azad Market Shivaji Road. Five people were injured in the incident, while a building that caught fire completely collapsed.
