new Delhi : Cross-border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir has come down significantly since 2018, Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai said in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. As per the data provided by the minister, there have been 502 incidents of cross-border infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir in the last five years. “Infiltration from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir has come down significantly since 2018,” Rai said in a written reply.
Whereas in 2017 there were 136 such incidents. In 2018 this figure was 143. Till 2020, the number of such incidents was 51 and in 2021 it was 34. Rai further said that the central government has adopted “a multi-pronged approach”. Approach to prevent cross-border infiltration”. “This includes multi-layered deployment along the International Border/Line of Control, fencing along the border, better intelligence and operational coordination, equipping security forces with advanced weapons and proactive action against infiltrators,” Rai said.
