Jaipur : Unaccounted assets including property and jewelery worth Rs 100 crore have been found at the residence of Chief Executive Officer of Bio-Fuel Authority (CEO) Surendra Singh Rathore. Officials gave this information here on Friday. Rathore was arrested on Thursday while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. The Bio-Fuel Authority is a Rajasthan government unit under the State Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department.
During the raid that lasted till late Thursday night, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials also recovered documents and expensive liquor from Rathore’s house, hence a case has been registered against him under Excise Act at Jyoti Nagar police station. Director General (ACB) BL Soni said, “When the team went to raid his residence on Thursday, they openly threatened us as to what ACB can do. I have a business of one thousand crore rupees.
Soni said that the accused Rathore had on Wednesday demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant for running his business uninterruptedly and for renewal of license, Soni said that the team that acted on the complaint, Rathore and the contract worker Devesh Sharma was arrested. Red handed taking bribe of 5 lakh rupees. He said that raids were conducted at four different places including his residence, farm house and apartment in Jaipur city.
Rs 4 crore cash, 20 properties, 4 luxury vehicles, etc.
About Rs 4 crore in cash, 20 property documents, including flats, shops, farm houses, etc., were recovered. The team also got four luxury vehicles, which include Jaguar Land Rover, Baleno, Fortuner and Mahendra Thar. His son runs a mining business. The ACB team had to use counting machines to accurately calculate the large amount of cash seized.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act and investigation is on, the official said.
