Hisar, April 08 (His). The Crime Branch of the police has arrested a person with sandalwood worth lakhs of rupees. This wood worth about Rs 33 lakh was brought illegally. After presenting the arrested accused in the court, the police have taken him on 10-day remand for interrogation.

Assistant sub-inspector Mangeram said that on the basis of a tip-off on Thursday, the CIA team raided Mangli Jatan village and arrested a person named Dharambir. According to the information received by the police, Dharambir, a resident of Mangalali Jatan, is doing illegal business of sandalwood wood and was standing in Mangli Jatan with red sandalwood sticks in Eicher Canter at the time of police raid.

When the police raided after information, Dharambir was sitting in the driver’s seat at Eicher Canter in the village, which was immediately overpowered. On search of the canter, trees of red color were seen among the household items from the canter. On the suspicion of red sandalwood, the Forest State Officer Hisar was informed, on which the Forest State Officer, who reached the spot, checked the wood and confirmed that the recovered wood was of red sandalwood.

According to the police, when the driver Dharambir was questioned about the wood bill and billi, he could not produce anything. On counting and weighing the wood, a total of 195 woods were recovered, weighing 15 quintals of 13 kg, which is worth about Rs 33 lakh in the market.

Despite being tied against Dharambir by taking the recovered logs and Eicher canter by the police, he was arrested after registering a case under various sections for keeping red sandalwood woods without bills and bills from theft. Preliminary inquiry conducted by the police team revealed that the accused had brought red sandalwood sticks from Chennai and Tamil Nadu.
