New Delhi: The registration for the Amarnath Yatra 2022 will start from April 11, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board said on Thursday (April 7). Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board CEO Nitishwar Kumar told ANI that the devotees who wish to visit the Himalayan cave temple situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters in South Kashmir will be able to register online through the Shrine Board’s website and mobile app. He said that they will start from June 30 this year. Over 3 lakh pilgrims are expected in the yatra, which ends on August 11.


“Registration for travel will start on April 11 at 446 branches of J&K Bank, PNB Bank, Yes Bank and 100 branches of SBI Bank across the country. We are expecting over 3 lakh pilgrims. At Ramban, a Yatri Niwas has been built, which can accommodate 3000 pilgrims,” said Nitishwar Kumar.


Kumar further informed that the insurance cover for annual pilgrimage pilgrims has been increased to Rs 5 lakh this year.

“The pilgrims will be given RFID by which the Shrine Board can track the pilgrims. The insurance coverage period for pony operators has been increased to one year. The insurance cover for pilgrims has been increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh this year,” he said.


Notably, the Amarnath Yatra was canceled midway in 2019 before the abrogation of Article 370 in August that year. The symbolic yatra was organized for the last two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
