Kolhapur: Voting took place in the state on Tuesday, April 12 for the Kolhapur North Assembly by-election. Counting of votes will take place today and results will be out by noon. Mahavikas Aghadi and all important BJP leaders are camping in Kolhapur for the Kolhapur North assembly by-election.

Because the reputation of BJP State President Chandrakant Patil, NCP leader and Labor Minister Hassan Mushrif, Minister of State for Home Satej Patil has been tarnished. Both Mahavikas Aghadi and BJP have made this place a place of prestige.

Congress MLA Chandrakant Jadhav passes away

Congress MLA from Kolhapur North Constituency Chandrakant Jadhav passed away on 2nd December 2021 at 2 am due to Corona. Although Corona was infected, he was paying attention to every question in the city. His condition worsened and he was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. There he had surgery on his esophagus. Also his blood pressure fell. Till the end he could not be controlled and during this time he died.


Chandrakant Jadhav belongs to BJP. In the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation, his wife Jayshree Jadhav and brother Sambhaji Jadhav were elected on the BJP’s election symbol. However, he joined Congress in the assembly elections and was elected from Kolhapur North constituency. Shiv Sena has been permanently elected to this seat since 1990, except in 2004 and 2019. In 2014, Rajesh Shirsagar of Shiv Sena defeated Satyajit Kadam of Congress. Chandrakant Jadhav brought this seat back to Congress after defeating the same Rajesh Kshirsagar. However, Chandrakant Jadhav passed away and a by-election was held for this seat.
