New Delhi: Election strategist Prashant Kishor is all set to join the Congress. These remarks gained further impetus today when he was meeting interim party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi at his residence in Delhi. KC Venugopal is also present in the meeting. Prashant Kishor has recently resumed talks with the Gandhi family for a role in reviving the Congress ahead of big elections, including the 2024 general elections. The two sides had already parted ways after several rounds of talks. Sources close to PK have rubbished the Congress statement that talks are focused on the Gujarat elections later this year. He said the Congress leadership and Prashant Kishor were mainly discussing the roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Sources said elections in Gujarat or any other state could be as per the responsibility and responsibility of PK. However, Congress sources say that Prashant Kishor’s talk was an offer to work on the Gujarat elections. Sources said that PK is still likely to join the Congress instead of playing an advisory role. However this cannot be denied. Talks between PK and the Gandhi family broke down a few weeks after Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal victory. As a strategist, PK was instrumental in TMC’s victory in Bengal. The Congress later formed an alliance with a former ally of PK to handle its election campaign.
PK had recently publicly lashed out at the Congress, especially Rahul Gandhi. Both sides have expressed their willingness to settle after another round of talks following the party’s recent defeat. However, there is a strong possibility that the second round of talks between the two sides may turn out to be fruitless.
