Three coaches of the Puducherry Express derailed between Matunga and Dadar railway stations in Mumbai on Friday night. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. Central Railway officials have shared this information. Many trains of Central Railway were affected due to this accident. Trains coming from both the directions have been stopped on the railway route. On receiving the information, top railway officials reached the spot.


According to reports, the accident happened at 9:45 pm on Friday night when the engine of the Gadag Express from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus collided with the Puducherry Express near Matunga railway station. Two express trains departed at the same time from Dadar station and it was learned that the collision took place at a place where two tracks were crossing each other. As a result, 3 rear coaches of the Puducherry Express derailed. Luckily there were no casualties.

Senior GRP Mumbai officials said that they are coordinating with the railway administration to help the stranded passengers. Passengers are requested to dial 1512 to avoid any inconvenience.

Let us tell you, the cause of the accident is not yet known. Railway signal system is believed to be the reason behind the accident.
