Chamba : Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday announced that every family in the state would get 125 units of electricity free of cost and 50 percent rebate in bus fares for women. The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting in Chamba on the occasion of 75th Foundation Day of Himachal Pradesh.

This scheme will benefit 11.5 lakh families of the state whereas earlier up to 60 units of free domestic electricity was provided. Meanwhile, water bills in rural areas will also be waived, although the Jal Shakti Department earns Rs 30 crore from water bills in rural areas. However, no announcement has been made by the CM for the employees on Himachal Day.

The CM approved funds for the Utla-Holi road and also announced the opening of a mini secretariat in Chamba. Earlier Jai Ram Thakur took salute at the march past presented by contingents of police personnel including 12 contingents of NCC and NSS police bands. Assembly Speaker Vipin Parmar and Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania were also present along with Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
