Sodhi said that the cooperative society has increased the price of Amul milk by eight per cent in the last two years. The price of milk has increased by Rs 2 per liter in the last one month. According to Sodhi, the prices of Amul milk may increase further in the near future.

Electricity and fuel prices have risen sharply. Which has an impact on the cost of cold storage. The cost of logistics has also gone up. As a result, milk prices increased by Rs 1.20 per liter in March.


Profit collection is not the main objective of cooperation

Sodhi said that the income of farmers has increased by Rs 4 per liter during the pandemic. At the same time, the company’s profits have declined due to several issues. But since profiteering is not the main objective of the cooperative, Amul is not afraid of such pressures.

Out of Re 1 received by Amul, 85 paise goes to farmers’ account. This means that the bulk of Amul’s profits are reserved for farmers.
